At Wimbledon, Mpetshi Perricard is the favorite for the qualifications
Wimbledon starts tomorrow. At least, as far as the qualifications are concerned. Many players will attempt to make it through the three rounds in order to reach the main draw and still be in the running in London next week.
This is particularly true for Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard. The Frenchman arrives with the status of a huge favorite for qualification. Ranked 67th in the world this week and having defeated Shelton in the first round of the Queen's tournament, the 20-year-old player seems perfectly equipped to join the main draw, as shown by his number 1 seed status.
Although in the space of a year he has made a phenomenal leap in terms of level of play and ranking (he was 221st this time last year), he should not rest on his laurels.
Indeed, the conditions at Wimbledon are always very special, and entering the temple of tennis is certainly an event, especially for young players. It should also be noted that the draw will be decisive and there are several players capable of troubling him.
